“Right to Know Colorado GMO” has collected approximately 167,995 signatures in favor of its ballot initiative requiring manufacturers to disclose which foods contain genetically modified organisms (“GMOs”). The number of signatures obtained is more than enough to present the initiative to the Colorado Secretary of State. Despite this success, the Colorado initiative must still surmount several obstacles.

If social media existed around 8,000 B.C., I have a feeling our food supply would look a lot a different than it does today. Cereal grains would be far less abundant. Strawberries would be the size of M&Ms. Almonds would either be too bitter or too poisonous to eat. Ears of corn would be about an inch long. We would be snacking on cabbage and lettuce heads not much bigger than Brussels sprouts.

A grassroots campaign to require honest GMO labeling on food products has been launched in Texas. Called "Label GMOs Texas," the campaign follows in the footsteps of the highly successful Vermont campaign which achieved victory earlier this year.
